Strategy and Networking Meeting After the March on October 24th

On October 24, the organizers of the 10th Annual March to Abolish the Death Penalty invite everyone who wants to get more involved in the effort to stop executions and end the death penalty in Texas to stick around and attend a strategy and networking meeting right after the march. The meeting details will be announced soon. It will likely be held in a room in one of the buildings in the Capitol complex and will probably start about 30 minutes after the last speaker at the march. The meeting is expected to last one and one half hours.

The purpose of the meeting will be to meet and network with each other and to talk about an ongoing strategy to end the death penalty in Texas. We have made a lot of progress over the past ten years, but we want to develop new ways to increase our effectiveness in organizing at the grassroots level in cities around Texas and at communicating with policymakers in the Legislature. The meeting after the march will be a time for us to begin laying the groundwork for success when the Legislature meets again in 2011.

Everyone is invited to attend the strategy and networking meeting.

After the strategy meeting, there will also be a social gathering (yes a Party) at the house of Lily Hughes in East Austin, 1311 E. 13th Street.
