March Endorsement Letter from Capital “X” aka 305375

I attended my first March Against Executions in 2007. It was empowering to say the least. With my radical views I of course wished to see every abolitionist in the entire country and flocks from over seas marching together in unity breaking through the barriers set up to contain the march in Texas. Thomas Jefferson said “When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty”, it is liberty that I seek.

The March Against Executions is something I believe anyone against the death penalty and for human rights needs to do at least once. It’s an ignored cause even though it is about saving human lives and it desperately needs attention. What you will leave the march with will surely be worth your travels. It will indeed grow into something even larger and the fight against the death penalty needs this.

Marching on the streets of Texas in front of the police gave me a glimpse of what has been endured throughout our history of struggle in the US. Meeting all those fighting on the front lines of the fight against the death penalty and hearing the many speakers surely ignites ones will to continue fighting even harder. This march is necessary and needs support from everyone.

I hope to see the day when thousands take to the streets state to state, city to city and town to town marching and rising up against the death penalty and tyranny all together. Maybe 2010 will bring us there. At hand right now though, is the 10th annual Texas March Against Executions in Austin, Texas on October 24th so come in solidarity and join the Austin chapter of the Campaign to End the Death Penalty, Texas Moratorium Network, the Texas Death Penalty Abolition Movement, Texas Students Against the Death Penalty, Texas Death Penalty Education and Resource Center and Kids Against the Death Penalty in marching towards a civilized society.

The struggle is a hard one, but a necessary one. For there must be a struggle if we are ever to see progress.
